September brings Little Italy’s San Gennaro Feast and Festival. It is Little Italy’s oldest and largest event, held annually since 1926, and often attracts as many as 3 million visitors along Mulberry Street between Houston Street and Canal Street. The Feast is presented by Figli di San Gennaro(Children of San Gennaro), a not-for-profit community organization which has produced and operated the Feast since 1996. It is an annual celebration of the Patron Saint of Naples, brought to New York City when newly arrived immigrants from Naples settled along Mulberry Street in the Little Italy section and decided to continue the tradition they had followed in Italy Food, be in found in the delightful trattorias, the gelato sellers on the street, or the Festival’s sausages, peppers, onions, delight visitors and residents seeking authentic Italian fare prepared using traditional ingredients and styles. The San Gennaro Festival’s classic arcade games like "Dunk-the-Man" and "Roll-the-Ball" keep children and adults entertained year after year. Activities are held from 11:30am - 11:30pm throughout the 11-day event, and until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
