Guins Conclude Rugged Stretch With Contest at 11th-Ranked UNI   
The Youngstown State football team (4-4 overall and 2-3 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference) heads to Cedar Falls, Iowa, to take on the 11th-ranked UNI Panthers on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 5:05 p.m. Eastern time at the UNI Dome. Both teams enter the contest having dropped two straight games. YSU's last win in Cedar Falls was in 1999. Senior offensive guard Brian Mellott (Austintown, Ohio) and junior placekicker Stephen Blose  (Erie, Pa.) have been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV first team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday. Both players are now eligible for Academic All-America honors. Release
Six Penguins Named to Valley Football Silver Anniversary Team   
St. Louis, Mo. -- The Youngstown State football team had six players selected to the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Silver Anniversary Team, which was announced on Tuesday. A total of 67 standouts were named the squad, which was selected through fan voting and by a committee. Nearly 2,500 votes were cast on-line from July to mid-October. Release   
Turnover Looms Large as Guins Fall to No. 9 South Dakota State   
In a game that saw a defensive struggle in the first half, a key turnover on the first play of the second half turned the tide as the Youngstown State football team suffered a 17-3 setback to ninth-ranked South Dakota State on Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium. The Youngstown State football team tries to keep its postseason hope alive with a contest against ninth-ranked South Dakota State set for this Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium. The game is set to kickoff at 4:07 p.m. and is the Missouri Valley Football Conference's Television Game of the Week.
