Youngstown -- Youngstown State senior Ruth Boscaljon and freshman Angela Roidt have been honored by the Horizon League for their outstanding 2009 volleyball season.
Boscaljon, a middle hitter from Elgin, Ill., was named All-Horizon League for the second time in her career. Roidt, a setter from McFarland, Wis., joined Boscaljon and three other Penguins in school history to be named to the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team.

Dayton, Ohio -- Senior Ruth Boscaljon had a match-high 18 kills in her last collegiate match to end a memorable career as the Youngstown State volleyball team lost in four sets to Wright State on Saturday afternoon.
The loss ends YSU's season as the Penguins can do no better than tie for sixth in the final Horizon League standings.

Cleveland, Ohio -- The Youngstown State volleyball team fell in straight sets to Cleveland State on the Vikings' senior night on Friday, 25-19, 25-18, 25-13 at Woodling Gym.
CSU senior Liz Fazio had 11 kills, and freshman Kara Koch matched her with 11 kills and a .391 hitting percentage. Ruth Boscljon had eight kills and three blocks to lead YSU.

Box Score Seniors Strong on Senior Day in Four-Set Loss to West Virginia

Youngstown -- Three seniors had strong offensive outings on Senior Day for Youngstown State, but the Penguins struggled in service in a four-set loss to West Virginia on Sunday.
Senior Ruth Boscaljon went over 1,300 career kills with 15, and senior teammates Allison Heinz and Kaitlin O'Hara had 10 apiece.

Box Score Penguins Come Up Short in Close Battle With Akron

Youngstown -- Akron's Brionna Patterson had a match-high 15 kills to counter five different Youngstown State players with at least eight kills as the Zips won in three sets on Tuesday.
Patterson hit .355, and Liz Martin had 14 kills and hit .480 to lead Akron to a .258 clip as a team. Akron won the first two sets by two points apiece - 29-27 and 25-23 - and the third 25-20.
