Volleyball Looks to Get Back to Winning Ways This Week

Youngstown -- The Youngstown State volleyball team will play its first non-conference matches since Sept. 20 when it welcomes Akron and West Virginia to campus this week.
The Guins will entertain the Zips at the Beeghly Center for the first time since 1996 on Tuesday at 7 p.m. YSU will play WVU for the ninth straight season on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the final home match of the year.
Release Strong First Set Leads Milwaukee Past Penguins in Four

Youngstown -- Milwaukee hit .636 in the first set and held off a frantic Youngstown State rally in the fourth set to defeat the Penguins 25-10, 18-25, 25-16, 25-23 Saturday at the Beeghly Center.
Jena Berg had a match-high 17 kills and was one of four Panthers to have three kills in the opening set. Ruth Boscaljon had 10 kills to lead YSU, and Haley Kapferer had nine on an efficient .308 clip.

Stats Green Bay Takes Three Straight Sets to Win in Four Over YSU

Youngstown -- Green Bay hit .278 and blocked 11 attacks en route to a 23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-14 victory over the Youngstown State volleyball team on Friday at the Beeghly Center.
Holly Visser had a match-high 20 kills and hit .381, and Kelly Mischler had six blocks for the Phoenix. Ruth Boscaljon and Brittany Grove both had 12 kills for YSU, which hit .167.

Box Score Guins Return Home, Hoping for Separation in Standings

Youngstown -- The Youngstown State volleyball team returns home for the first time in three weeks to host Green Bay and Milwaukee this weekend at the Beeghly Center.
The Penguins will entertain Green Bay on Friday at 7 p.m. and Milwaukee on Saturday at 2 p.m. as part of the homecoming festivities on campus.
